Did you know the Goliath Bird Eating Spider is one of the world’s biggest spiders. It is a whopping twelve inches long. That is longer than the human hand. To make this spider a spider it has eight legs, fangs in their jaws (not all spiders have venom, but this one does), silk making glands (their scientific name is spinnerets), a hard outer skeleton, eyes (most spiders have eight eyes), and feeling hairs on their body. And another cool fact about their fangs is that their fangs are half the size of the human thumb. Also, they only have two body parts, not three like all insects. Since they are not an insect, what are they? Their real name is an arachnid, not an insect. They do have venom but it is only harmful to small animals, not humans. Normally when a spider bites you it doesn't use venom because it was just for self defence, that is called a dry bite. I hope you can picture the spider in your head now.
